The Headstone Original Stained Glass Piece
My most complex stained glass project yet!
This piece was inspired by the carvings on old headstones that are practically everywhere in spooky Massachusetts! In the seventeenth century the winged skull was a prevalent symbol carved by Boston grave makers, and generally it is seen as the departed fleeing mortality, or that their journey continues after the flesh is gone.
Of course I had to add my own flairs, so there is a triple moon, and the color scheme is purple and green! All of the glass I've chosen is absolutely crazy, with lots of texture and color streaking, even the black isn't actually black but more a deep blue with green swirls that is super hard to capture in photographs!
The skull and moons are also iridescent on the front of the piece, most noticeable when the piece isn't backlit.
I will most likely only make two exactly like this, one for me to keep and one to share!
Piece measures roughly 8" high by 12" long, the chain makes the height about 10"
*IT IS HEAVIER THAN IT LOOKS AND I ABSOLUTELY DO NOT RECOMMEND HANGING ON A RUBBER WINDOW HOOK! Please find a more sturdy option for hanging if you don't want to risk it falling! If you need me to make a longer chain I am more than happy to accommodate, please leave a note on your order!*
